Naniwa Changes Names of Sharpening Stones
Naniwa has redesigned its packaging and made some changes to the names of its popular stones. The stones themselves remain the same but the packaging and names have been updated. Here’s a guide to help you navigate these updates.
Naniwa Chocera Pro
The Naniwa Chocera Pro Series is the fastest cutting and highest quality water stone made by Naniwa. It is available in 8 grits ranging from 400 to 10,000 grit. It has previously been called the Naniwa Chosera, and the Naniwa Professional.
Naniwa Diamond Pro
The Naniwa Diamond Pro Stone is a sharpener with a 1mm thick diamond abrasive bound in a layer of resin, mounted on a sturdy metal base. The stone feels like a water stone but stays flat longer and is suitable for sharpening even the hardest exotic steels and ceramics. These were formally known as Naniwa Diamond Stones.
Naniwa Advance Super Stones
The Naniwa Advance Super Stone does not require soaking. Available in grits from 220 to 12,000. The Naniwa S2 Advance Super Stone is 3/4" thick while the S1 Advance Super Stone is 3/8" thick. It has previously been calling the Super Stone and the S1 was previously called the Specialty Stone and the S2 was previously called the Sharpening Stone.
Naniwa Standard Traditional Stone
Naniwa Standard Traditional Stones balance price and performance. They require soaking before use. Available in 220, 1000, 1500, 6000 and 8000 grit. Formerly known as the Naniwa Traditional Series.
Naniwa Basic Multi Stone
The Naniwa Basic Multi Stone is a budget-friendly combination whetstone featuring two grits in one, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced sharpeners seeking extra versatility. This water stone requires soaking before use and delivers Naniwa quality at an affordable price. Formally known as the Naniwa Multi Stone.
All of these products remain the same sharpeners you know and love. It’s just the names and packaging that has changed. The stones are still made of the same materials and the item numbers will remain the same. During this packaging and labeling change, you may receive a product with the old or new packaging. When you purchase more than one stone, we will do our best to provide you with stones that have matching labels and boxes.
