DMT Bench Stone Holder Comparison

DMT offers two different base/holder options for their sharpening stones, the standard Bench Stone Holder which is also known as the DuoBase™, and the new Bench Stone Holder with the MagnaBase™ Adapter. Both of the models serve several useful purposes:

1) They keep the stones firmly in place while you sharpen. The rubber feet keep the base and stones stationary and secure on a variety of surfaces.

2) Both elevate the stones for ease of use. The base provides a comfortable height with 2” of clearance for your knuckles.

3) They both feature a convenient handle on the underside so you can sharpen large knives and axes by moving the stones to the blade, rather than bringing a large heavy blade to the stone. (This feature is for use with the DuoSharp™ stones only, and is not recommended for use with the Dia-Sharp™ stones.)

Which base should I choose?

DMT Bench Stone Holder

The DMT Bench Stone Holder is the standard model and has been around for many years. It is designed to fit the 8” and 10” DuoSharp stones as well as any of the 6” x 2” DMT® Diamond Whetstones.

DMT Bench Stone Holder with MagnaBase Adapter

This newer model uses the standard DMT Bench Stone Holder, and also includes the Magnabase Adapter. The adapter expands the versatility with a magnetic surface that allows for rapid grit changes of all Dia-Sharp® bench stones. Previously, DMT did not have a base that fit their popular Dia-Sharp stones.
