Our most versatile stone holder.

If you are going to buy just one stone holder, this is the one. We have tested it and found it holds stones between 5 1/2" and 8 1/2" long. Although intended primarily for water stones, it works equally well on diamond and oil stones; the stones do not know the difference. The rubber feet keep the stone from sliding around and have the added benefit of raising the stone 7/8" above the work surface, just enough to easily make room for your hands while sharpening. The sturdy chrome plated steel rails are corrosion resistant.

If this holder looks familiar, you've probably seen us using this holder in photos and in videos. This is a very versatile holder so we use it with almost all of our stones in the shop.

Q. Will this hold Shapton Glasstone Ceramic Water Stones?

A. Yes, we have found this to be an economical alternative to the Shapton Stone Holder.

Q. Will this hold the DMT 8" Dia-Sharp stones?

A. Yes, this is the stone holder we recommend with the DMT 8" Dia-Sharp stones.

Q. Does this work on water stones?

A. This works with any of the water stones we carry. It provides a very stable surface for all water stones.
