Q. When was the Tormek T-1 launched?

A. The Tormek T-1 was launched in the US market on Feburary 10th, 2022.

Q. Can the Tormek T-1 restore my factory edge?

A. In almost all cases, the Tormek T-1 will be able to sharpen your knives to sharper than it came from the factory.

Q. What if I have a question after I receive my Tormek T-1?

A. All of our specialists have used the T-1 and are trained in its use. Just give us a call or send us an email.

Q. Will replacement Diamond Wheels be available for the T-1?

A. Yes, replacement wheels will be available by the end of 2022. With production limited, the priority right now is on producing completed machines. The wheels will last years, so replacement wheels will not be necessary for quite some time.

Q. Are replacement Honing Wheels available for the T-1?

A. Yes, replacement Honing Wheels are available. However, these wheels last a long time so, it isn't necessary to plan for their replacement.

Q. What is the main difference between the Tormek T-1 and the T-2?

A. The T-1 Kitchen Knife Sharpener is designed for home use while the T-2 Pro Kitchen Knife Sharpener is designed for commercial use. They are both quality Swedish-made machines, the T-1 is more compact and features an easy-to-use Conical Diamond Wheel. The T-2 is designed for commercial kitchens and is certified for commercial use.

Q. Does the T-1 produce the same edge as the commercial/professional T-2?

A. Yes, the T-1 produces the same extremely fine edge as the T-2. They both utilize the same Honing Wheel, so the final step in sharpening is exactly the same.

Q. Can I sharpen folding knives, pocket knives, and hunting knives on the T-1?

A. The Tormek T-1 is recommended for kitchen knives. However, as long as the knife can fit in the guide properly, you can sharpen the knife. Knives with very small blades may be too small for the guide. Very thick hunting knives may be too thick for the guide.

Q. How long will the diamond wheel last?

A. For home use (the T-1 is recommended for home use only) it is expected to last many years. We're continually doing more testing and will update this as we learn more.

Q. What grit is the diamond wheel?

A. The diamond wheel is 600 grit. It is considered a fine diamond grit.

Q. Will the Tormek T-1 scratch the side of my knife?

A. The guides for the Tormek T-1 were designed to avoid scratching knives. It comes with replaceable felt pads to protect your knife as it is sliding through the guide. The guides contain a magnet to attract the metal particles. This magnet is easily removed and cleaned. Following these steps will make sure your quality cutlery will remain scratch-free.

Q. Is the supply of the Tormek T-1 limited?

A. Yes, the initial supply of Tormek T-1 machines is limited. However, more machines are shipping from Sweden.

Q. Is the Tormek T-1 made in Sweden?

A. All Tormek sharpeners are made in Sweden, the T-1 is not an exception.

Q. Does the T-1 use water like the Tormek T-4 and T-8?

A. No, the Diamond Wheel is not used with water like the wheels for the T-4 and T-8.

Q. Can the T-1 sharpen serrated blades?

A. We do not recommend it for serrated knives.

Q. How does the 8 year warranty work?

A. It has an 8-year warranty if you register your machine with Tormek. If you do not register your machine, the warranty is still 5 years.

Q. What does the T-1 warranty cover?

A. This includes all parts for your Tormek T-1 in the event of material and manufacturing faults. The Tormek warranty guarantees the function of your machine but does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, or mishandling. The normal usage of the wheels is not covered by the warranty.
