Camellia Oil Spray Rust Protection
- Protect from Rust
- Leaves a lubricated surface
Camellia oil is used to protect carbon steel blades and tools from rusting.
Traditional tools and knives are made of carbon steel. Many of the very best edges are made of carbon steel (of one type or another). There is one problem with carbon steel compared with stainless steel, it rusts. Not only is the rusting unsightly, it tends to dull your edge prematurely.
Camellia oil is a natural oil made from the seeds of an evergreen plant in the camellia genus. The seeds are cultivated in Asia and pressed to produce the camellia oil. The oil is very light and unlike other natural oils, it's not likely to dry and gum up.
Our Camellia Oil is bottled in an 8 ounce container (245 ml is you're into the metric system). The spray applicator makes applying very easy. Imported from Japan.
Tool Tip: Not only does Camellia Oil work well on knives and tools for protecting rust, you can also use it on your hand planes to help lubricate bottom. When I start to feel some friction on the bottom of my plane I just give it a quick spray, then buff it in with cloth. You'll be shocked how much less effort hand planing requires with the bottom lightly lubricated.
