What is the best type of sharpening stones?
There isn't a single best stone. Each of the stone type has advantages. We recommend that you find the benefits that mean most to you. Water stones and diamond stones are the most popular, but if you want to learn the advantages of each, we recommend you read our article Difference in Sharpening Stone Materials.
What size sharpening stone should I purchase?
A larger stone is generally better. So a 8” or larger stone is generally recommended. A larger stone is easier to use and will help you sharpen more quickly. The reason for smaller stones is usually cost or portability.
