  • Available in 6" and 8" Lengths
  • Soft Arkansas on one side, Hard Arkansas on the other.

The Soft/Hard Arkansas Combination Stone is made from natural stone with a high content of microcrystalline quartz. Quarried in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma, it makes a great surface for sharpening knives and tools.

The Soft/Hard Arkansas Combination Stone gives you a medium and a fine grit. This combination offers you an economical combination grit stone. When paired with a coarser India stone, this combo stone will give you a good value for sharpening knifes and tools.

The handsome wooden box keeps the stone safe when not in use. The Soft/Hard Arkansas Combination Stone is now available in 3 sizes to fit your needs. The 6" x 2" x 1" is a medium sized stone that is popular due to the good size and value. If you do a lot of sharpening, you’ll appreciate the large 8" x 2" x 1" stone; its generous size allows for longer strokes to speed up the sharpening process. Newest to the line is the very large 10" x 2" x 1" stone; this size is great for sharpening very large knives and tools.

Proudly quarried and made in the USA.

Q. I see that the Soft Arkansas side is rated as medium, isn't that rather coarse?

A. We carry many stones that are deemed "medium" but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are all the same. The Soft Arkansas side is considerably more fine then a medium India or Silicon Carbide stone. The Soft Arkansas is in fact finer than a fine India or Silicon Carbide stone.

Q. Is the Hard Arkansas side fine enough for the final grit?

A. Like many questions in sharpening, this question doesn't have a simple yes or no answer. The Hard Arkansas is finer than the vast majority of sharpening stones on the market so it will give you superior overall results. If you're looking for an even finer edge, we recommend going to a Hard Black Arkansas or using a leather strop.
