Shapton Ceramic Water Stones are famous for their quality, so why would you use anything less than the best to flatten them? Maintaining a flat stone is critical to proper sharpening, and the Diamond on Glass Lapping Plate is best way to extract every bit of the performance from the stones. The plate substrate is flat to with +/- 5 micron, putting it in a league by itself for flattening. Measuring 3 3/16" x 10" x 15/16", it is intended for use on Shapton Ceramic Water Stones of grits 500 to 30,000.

The Diamond on Glass Lapping Plate is different from any other lapping plate we offer. It is made of diamonds embedded in float glass with a coating of nickel. This unique substrate is unlike the other lapping plates with bases of plastic or steel, and has an incredibly flat surface.
