Kell 3mm Risers

A razor sharp micro bevel in a couple strokes.

The perfect height

These sheets of polycarbonate are 3mm thick. The perfect height to place under the rollers of the Richard Kell No. 2 Honing Guide to gain 5° of bevel angle.

The recommended use is to set your blade in the guide with 1¼” projection to achieve a bevel angle of 30° and sharpen as normal until you come to the final stone. Then place the 3mm risers under the guide rollers on your finest stone. The risers will increase the sharpening angle by 5°, concentrating the sharpening at the very edge and in just 1 or 2 strokes will give a razor sharp edge.

Q. Do the 3mm Risers work with the Solid Brass Chisel Honing Guide or the Solid Brass Plane Honing Guide?

A. They do not work with either of those honing guides unless you have converted them to the larger wheel size using the Kell Retro Fit Large Rollers
