Honing Guide

Easy To Use

This honing guide is the standard guide design found in many woodworking shops around the world. There is a good reason for this: it is just plain easy to use. If you need to hone a chisel or plane blade we have found this to be extremely easy. By clamping your blade by the sides, this tool automatically aligns your blade for honing. We have tried other honing guides but we keep coming back to this old standard. Included on guide are figures that help you calculate angles based on the amount the blade protrudes from the jig.

Narrow Or Wide Blades
For wood chisels, use the narrow jaws as shown in the photo above. For plane irons, use the wider jaws that will accommodate up to a 3" width plane iron.

Q. How do I determine the sharpening angle when using this guide?

A. In one of two ways: By measuring the amount of blade projecting beyond the guide. Measurements for 25 degrees and 30 degrees are provided on the packaging. Or, by using an Angle Cube you can sharpen to any angle.
