Green Honing Compound is easy to use

This fine chromium oxide and aluminum oxide abrasive is used when you want a polished, honed edge on your tools, and it can be used on leather, wood or synthetic strops. The waxy consistency makes it easy to apply the compound. Simply rub the bar of compound on your strop. Think of the compound as a big crayon and apply it evenly to your surface. There is no need to apply too aggressively, you don't need much to be effective. After you've applied some compound, your strop will now polish your blade edges more quickly and will help you achieve a mirror polish.

Advice
Stropping a tool or knife is one of the least understood and least appreciated ways to perfect your blade edge. After sharpening your knife on a stone, stropping will enhance the edge quickly and easily. I like using the green honing compound because it will put a true mirror polish on your blade, and do it quickly. ~John

Q. How much honing compound should I apply to my strop?

A. We generally recommend to cover the entire surface. A little lighter is better than too much. Keep in mind strops are often used without compound, so if you miss a small spot, the stropping will still be effective.

Q. How long will this 6 oz. bar last?

A. When used for stopping, the 6 oz. Green Honing Compound will last a very long time. If you ever use up an entire bar, please congratulate yourself, you've done more stropping than just about anyone.
