DMT Extra Extra Coarse 8" Dia-Sharp Diamond Stone

DMT® has created a 2X Coarse Diamond Stone for really coarse sharpening. What separates this stone from other stones is its very large diamond particles. The diamond particles are twice as large as the particles on the Extra Coarse. These large diamond particles offer an extremely coarse continuous surface for jobs where you need to remove metal fast. It provides a safe alternative to powered grinding with no worries of heat build-up that can damage tool temper. Furthermore, the extremely coarse stone allows you to quickly and easily change tool bevel angles and remove cutting edge nicks and chips.

This stone is in the Dia-Sharp® line of DMT® diamond stones and features a continuous diamond surface attached to heavy-duty nickel and steel-backed surface. This diamond stone measures 8" long and 3" wide. The size is plenty large for sharpening most tools and knives. Includes four rubber feet to keep the stone in place during sharpening.

The grit of the DMT 2X (Extra Extra Coarse) is 120 grit. This coincidentally is also 120 micron. As grit goes up, the micron size goes down. At 120 the numbers converge. No matter how you describe the grit, it is a very coarse stone.

Uses

If you need maximum speed in metal removal or flattening, this is the best stone we have ever used. The extra-extra coarse grit removes metal much faster than any other coarse grit. Whether you're flattening the back of a chisel or establishing a new bevel angle on a knife or tool, this stone makes quick work of those previously laborious tasks. In addition, it's ideal for flattening water stones, Arkansas stones, and synthetic stones.
